Islamic Leadership Transcends Borders, Senior Iranian Scholar Says

A senior Iranian cleric says the leadership of the Islamic Ummah is not confined within national borders, describing it as a transnational and global responsibility to guide the faithful worldwide.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Najaf Lakzaei, head of the Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy, made the remarks during a meeting in Qom on Tuesday. The session reviewed a book on the extension of the school of thought of the Islamic Revolution’s two founding figures under the leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.

Hojatoleslam Lakzaei stressed the pivotal status of leadership in the Islamic system, calling it a continuation of the path of divine prophets and the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT).

Citing verse 13 of Surah Ash-Shura, he emphasized that Iran’s leaders are first and foremost Quranic leaders who reconstruct the school of Islam within the framework of revelatory teachings.

"The leadership of the Islamic Ummah is not limited to the borders of one country. From the perspective of the Holy Quran and narrations, it is a trans-border and global matter aimed at guiding the followers of the faith across the entire world," Lakzaei stated.

The cleric also highlighted a key achievement of the leadership: the nurturing of a "civilization-minded and jihad-oriented" generation.

He said the leadership had successfully raised people who recognize the enemy and have grasped the course of Velayat — a generation that, even without seeing the deputy of the Imam directly, moves behind him with insight and awareness.

Hojatoleslam Lakzaei concluded by recommending that in future editions, the book under review should elevate its discourse toward strategic and Quranic analyses.
